You are currently viewing Steve Wozniak: Apple co-founder believes in Bitcoin

Steve Wozniak is the celebrated co-founder of Apple, alongside Steve Jobs, and has been following bitcoin and the cryptocurrency industry for some time.

He recently spoke at the Jalisco Talent Land Digital 2021 during which he also talked about Bitcoin.

In fact, El Sol de Mexico reports that during his presentation he answered a question about Bitcoin by saying:

“Gold is limited and you have to look for it; Bitcoin is the most incredible mathematical miracle. I don’t invest in Bitcoin, but I believe in it for the future.”

According to the Apple co-founder, Bitcoin is mathematically pure, and has the qualities to be a store of value.

Steve Wozniak went on to say:

“Bitcoin is something that protects value, it might be better than gold because we keep finding more and more gold. Maybe one day we could make gold, but Bitcoin is mathematically pure, and we don’t even know who created it. It is the most amazing mathematical miracle ever created.”

He added that no new bitcoin will ever be created after the last BTC is issued, and that over 80% of BTC have already been created.

This is one of the key points he said he appreciated most, namely that no one can decide and “create more bitcoin” than what is allowed by the protocol.

At this point, he raised doubts about the practice of some governments, such as the US, who sometimes simply decide to create more currency negatively affecting its real value due to inflation.

Steve Wozniak does not own bitcoin

However, he also added that he doesn’t own BTC because he is annoyed by the volatility of its value, so he probably must have sold the ones he bought in the past, given that he revealed in 2017 that he had bought some.

The fact that he is a true and sincere appreciator of Bitcoin is also evident from the doubts he raised about those other crypto projects that pass themselves off as better alternatives to Bitcoin, but instead “are just cryptocurrencies that have no value”. He said that these projects tend to hire celebrities to promote a brand with advertising, whereas Bitcoin does not hire anyone and does not advertise.

However, he also defended distributed ledger technology (DLT) and blockchain, which could have a big impact on the world. According to Wozniak, the strength lies in being immutable, although immutability is only achieved through decentralization and is not an inherent quality of this technology.
