It is an app for creators on social networks based on tokens.
Calaxy stands for “Creator’s Galaxy” and will allow creators and celebrities to raise funds through tokens, as well as allowing fans to interact with them through video messages, online classes, video calls and fan club memberships.
In fact, thanks to the app it will be possible to launch “Creator tokens”, which can then be purchased by fans to unlock access to new content and experiences.
The aim is to provide a way of monetizing the community.
The funding round, in which Animoca Brands and Matt James of “The Bachelor” also participated, was launched to raise funds to accelerate the development of the app and partnerships.
In fact, the app has not yet been released, and the communication campaign has not even started yet, as Calaxy’s social profiles are still barely visited.
Spencer Dinwiddie and the crypto app
Spencer Dinwiddie is the playmaker for the Brooklyn Nets, one of the eight best teams in the world’s top basketball league.
In addition to him, another US sports star is involved in the project, running back Ezekiel Elliott of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.
In addition to Animoca Brands, the funding round also includes Red Beard Ventures, ArkStream Capital, NGC Ventures and Genesis Block Ventures. Furthermore, Hedera Hashgraph is also involved in the project, as the app is based on this “blockchain”.
It should be noted that the price of Hedera Hashgraph’s HBAR cryptocurrency in the last 24 hours has risen from around $0.18 to over $0.21, after the publication of the news by Calaxy, but then retraced slightly towards $0.19.
It should be added, though, that HBAR’s price is still 7.5% lower than it was a fortnight ago, and 14.8 % lower than it was a month ago, a far cry from the $0.44 it reached at its peak in mid-March.
Calaxy’s COO and co-founder, Solo Ceesay, said the app has only been tested internally so far, but will enter public beta in a few weeks. They plan to run a launch campaign similar to Clubhouse, starting by inviting only influencers and their communities, one by one, to try and create some FOMO for the platform.
Creators taking part in the public beta include singer-songwriter Teyana Taylor, NBA player Iman Shumpert, “WAGS Miami” star Claudia Sampedro and social media influencer Eric Struk.
