The completely redesigned user interface of Wasabi Wallet 2.0 has finally been revealed.
The user interface will be completely replaced by the new one, which will be much more intuitive, aiming to offer privacy to everyone, and making it the default setting.
Wasabi is an open source, non-custodial, privacy-focused Bitcoin wallet created 3 years ago. It implements CoinJoin to protect transaction privacy, and is the leading provider of obfuscation services for BTC transactions.
Since the announcement of the new 2.0 release in November, a lot of progress has been made in its development, so that the new version is about to be released.
Towards the release of Wasabi Wallet 2.0
The exact timing of its release is not yet known, but it is estimated that the Wasabi Wallet 2.0 preview could arrive within 10 weeks, more precisely between 6 and 14 weeks. This estimate was made based on a list of all the tasks still to be done, with a best-case, worst-case and medium-case scenario.
Wasabi Wallet 2.0 Preview will contain only the most fundamental functionalities, in order to release a first rudimentary version of the new software so that testing can begin and any initial bugs can be fixed. This preview should only be used on Bitcoin’s TestNet.
The next version to be released will be the Wasabi Wallet 2.0 Release Candidate, which will include all features and be available to the public for review and testing.
When the quality of the software is deemed sufficient, the Wasabi Wallet 2.0 Final Release (Series) will be launched, which is the first version of the 2.0 series.
Wasabi 1.0 will continue to run in parallel with the first version of the 2.0 series and will only be deactivated after most users have upgraded to 2.0. In this way, there will be time to test 2.0 before starting to use it.
The research paper for the new CoinJoin WabiSabi protocol has also been released.
For many users, the privacy of BTC transactions is a key feature, so the success of Wasabi Wallet is hardly surprising. The fact that now, thanks to the new interface, it is essentially within everyone’s reach means that its popularity could expand further.
