Polkadot is closing in on Cardano in the ranking of crypto projects with the most development activity.

This was reported by CryptoDiffer, which analyses the volume of activity on GitHub for dozens of crypto projects.

Cardano has been at the top of this list for some time, so its supremacy is not news. What has emerged recently, however, is the growth of Polkadot in this specific ranking.

According to CryptoDiffer, Cardano has averaged 473 daily activities on GitHub over the past 30 days, but Polkadot is trailing it with 464.

It should be noted that while Cardano’s developments have been very active for a long time, with relatively stable values in this ranking, Polkadot’s developments have only recently started to be very active, resulting in a rise in this ranking. This suggests that over time Polkadot might even surpass Cardano in terms of average daily activity on GitHub.

In addition, Kusama, Polkadot’s experimental canary network, came third in this ranking, with an average of 464 activities per day.

All other projects were far behind, including Ethereum. It should also be noted that this ranking does not take Bitcoin into account.

The development activity of Polkadot (and Kusama)

Since the Kusama project is actually part of Polkadot, one might consider adding up the two results and claim that Polkadot almost doubles Cardano, but in reality the fact that the number of average daily activities on Kusama is the same as on Polkadot suggests that these are duplications, i.e. the same activities being carried out in parallel on both the main project and the canary network.

Polkadot is a very ambitious project, on which many people are working, especially since it requires a great deal of work and many developments to achieve its final aims. Whereas Cardano is an alternative and a competitor to Ethereum, Polkadot wants to build something completely new and on a higher level.

To date, there are already several experiments underway on Kusama’s canary network, while Polkadot is basically still in the development phase.

However, it is hardly surprising that DOT, Polkadot’s native cryptocurrency, has entered the world’s top 10 cryptocurrencies with the highest market capitalization. Its price has risen from just under $3 in August 2020 to the current $15, passing through an all-time high of almost $50 in May.

The price of Kusama (KSM) is also rising strongly, up 2,400% over the past year, although it has recently lost 66% from its all-time high in May.
