Luxury car fans will now have the exclusive opportunity to purchase a car design sketch by Porsche designer Peter Varga, Director of Exterior Design, through the platform SuperRare.
The physical version of the sketch will come accompanied by a digital version and will be the first time Porsche has delved into the NFT world.
CEO of Porsche Deutschland, Alexander Pollich, commented on how the initiative would target a variety of target groups:
“With the NFT initiative, we are once again demonstrating the pioneering spirit typical of Porsche, with which we are always boldly entering new terrain. With NFT, we are addressing existing Porsche customers, who are often passionate collectors, as well as new, younger target groups with a high affinity for digital trends.”
Porsche has collaborated with Fanzone in transforming the sketch into an NFT. Fanzone is an NFT platform for digital sports cards and was launched via Porsche’s company builder Forward31. The sketch combines two car models, the iconic sports car 911 model with the taycan cross turismo, the youngest member of the model range.
The total proceeds of the auction will go to charity Viva con Agua, a non-profit organisation founded in Hamburg in 2006, whose mission is to provide clean drinking water and sanitation for everyone.
Up until the 6th August, collectors and fans will be able to participate in the auction, which is expected to generate substantial interest among Porsche fans and NFT collectors alike.
A number of high-end brands have recently released their unique NFT collection, subscribing to the boost in popularity that NFTs have experienced over the past few months. Luxury brand Louis Vuitton chose to mark its 200 year anniversary with an NFT based video game with unique artwork from digital artist Beeple.
