You are currently viewing Dogecoin: fans want Walmart to adopt the cryptocurrency

Dogecoin fans are collecting signatures to ask US retail giant, Walmart, to adopt the DOGE crypto.

Thanks to a petition that has already been online for some time but has recently come back into circulation, fans of the crypto meme are asking for support from other supporters to gather up to 2,500 signatures and ask Walmart to accept DOGE as a means of payment in its stores.

“Walmart should accept Dogecoin as an online form of payment. Walmart’s goal is to provide low cost products to customers. If they accept Dogecoin as a new and progressive payment option, then that can work to their advantage. This explains that by adding Dogecoin as an accepted cryptocurrency payment options, Walmart would become one of the first mainstream retailers and join a rapidly growing list of merchants that are adapting to fit the needs of modern consumers. Walmart would have an amazing opportunity to be the first mainstream retailer to take advantage of the digital currency that can provide a fee-free, or fee-minimal place to store wealth that can be spent, and, if needed, easily converted to cash.”

The resurgence of this petition is also happening through fans using other social networks such as YouTube’s Final Stand video “Walmart Dogecoin Acceptance” (with nearly 35 thousand views in one day) or the various tweets posted on the crypto-lover social.

Dogecoin for Walmart: why fans are pushing for DOGE adoption

This return to petitioning Dogecoin fans might have its own logic.

In fact, just two days ago, Walmart posted a job ad on its LinkedIn profile about the position of product lead for projects related to cryptocurrency and digital currencies.

This interest of Walmart in the search for a cryptocurrency expert might have triggered the loyal fans of DOGE, already accustomed to the support of their favorite cryptocurrency by other giants, such as Tesla CEO Elon Musk, but also recently by different types of collaborations.

We are talking about Dogecoin’s entry into the Premier League as an indirect sponsor of the British soccer team Watford. Indirect, as the actual sponsor would be Stake.com, which has won the right to put the DOGE logo on the sleeve of the players’ uniforms.

Not only that, at the end of July 2021, even Burger King accepted cryptocurrency as a means of payment in Brazil, albeit for a promotional initiative. In fact, the adoption of DOGE was only possible to purchase the grilled meat-flavored dog cookies, Dogpper.

In any case, at the time of writing, the petition has already reached 1750 signatures collected in support of DOGE’s fan request. On the other hand, the cryptocurrency ranks seventh in market capitalization, with a dominance of 2.03% of the total cryptocurrency market cap in circulation.

On the other hand, DOGE’s price has been declining since last Monday, with a value at the time of writing of almost $0.30.
