PRESS RELEASE
The companies behind the world’s largest, green blockchain, Cardano, are set to hold the Cardano Summit 2021, a hybrid event being held in-person across six hubs in Africa, Europe, and The US, as well as virtually using the latest technology previously employed by industry heavyweights such as Google, which incorporates a suite of social, video and interactive features. Community-led events will also be happening across six continents and over 50 countries.
Cardano Summit 2021
The summit will bring together blockchain enthusiasts, industry experts, and special guests to reflect on Cardano’s monumental year and look to the future with some exclusive, industry-defining announcements. Cardano is dedicated to improving systems for everyone, everywhere while democratising opportunities in the process such as the largest blockchain partnership to date, with the Ministry of Education in Ethiopia to create digital IDs for students, giving them blockchain-verified digital qualifications reducing fraudulent university and job applications, increasing social mobility. Cardano is at the forefront of blockchain pioneering, from innovating the network that uses 0.01% of Bitcoin’s energy usage to the development of a solution which allows the creation of NFTs on Cardano without smart contracts and has already seen over 750,000 secure and stable NFTs created to date.
The event will take place on September 25th and 26th showcasing the latest in Cardano developments and will feature prominent political figures, tech and business leaders with some groundbreaking exclusive announcements. Special guests will feature in high-level discussions, including a deep dive into the future of national currency and a special appearance from Misan Harriman, Chair of the Southbank Centre, discussing NFTs and the future of art. Further panels will cover topics such as sustainability, regulation, blockchain adoption and how to give access to vital financial and social services to those 1.7 billion adults who currently don’t have it.
IOHK, the blockchain research and development company responsible for the development of Cardano, will bring together leading scientist and published academics in the field of blockchain, to explain why Cardano took a rigorous scientific approach, the benefits of this procedure, and will be showcasing some of the unique user benefits Cardano has in terms of security, price stability and energy efficiency.
EMURGO, Cardano’s investment arm, will feature in discussions and presentations on creative blockchain applications for businesses and governments, while the Cardano Foundation, the not-for-profit responsible for overseeing Cardano’s long-term development, will focus on Cardano’s trajectory towards providing social and financial services to the least developed parts of the world.
In a time where the world finds itself cemented in a ‘new normal’, the blockchain industry is finding new and exciting ways to incorporate a blend of on and offline ways to stay connected. The Cardano Summit 2021 will utilise the latest conferencing technology, used by the likes of Google, providing a combination of bespoke visuals, custom extensions and in-person hubs to bring together blockchain and technology experts and enthusiasts from around the globe for a series of engaging live discussions, as well as exclusive IOHK, Cardano and EMURGO announcements over the two-day period.
Charles Hoskinson, CEO of IOHK, said:
“The Cardano summit 2021 follows the launch of smart contract capabilities on Cardano, and a remarkable six years of intensive development and peer-reviewed academic research to create a third generation blockchain platform which is not only eco-friendly, but provably secure.
“The latest Cardano upgrade represents a huge leap forward in terms of bringing price stability to the smart contract network as well as addressing the present energy issues. Having been proven during extensive, peer-reviewed research and development, we can now expect hundreds of groundbreaking innovations that will change industries far beyond that of blockchain.”
Frederik Gregaard, CEO, Cardano Foundation, said:
“One of the greatest things about leading The Cardano Foundation is witnessing the skills and incredible creativity of our community being applied to a variety of challenges. When we speak of the architects of the future: that’s exactly what we mean. As such, The Cardano Summit is an excellent opportunity for our advocates across the globe to celebrate what has been accomplished but also, most importantly, what’s to come.”
Ken Kodama, CEO at EMURGO, said:
“EMURGO is very excited to be at the forefront of Cardano Summit 2021. As in past years, this year’s conference is a special occasion for the global Cardano community and founding entities to come together and celebrate the hard work and achievements that have made Cardano a leading industry name. Especially with this year’s Alonzo hard fork.
“Cardano is ushering in decentralised finance, a new breed of NFTs, and other decentralized services for an increasing global user base. As one of the founding entities of Cardano, we look forward to sharing more details of our plans to support the development of these services through Yoroi Wallet and our core business areas.”
Panel Discussions will include:
- DeFi: the future of finance: how blockchain technology has the potential to change the future of financeS
- tablecoins, CBDCs, and the future of national currency: the power blockchain technology has in changing the way we view the national banking system
- Offline banking for those with network issues: how blockchain technology can enable those with poor or no internet access the ability to carry out banking transactions
