In partnership with Palm NFT Studios, entertainment giant DC is dropping new digital collectibles for the DC FanDome 2021 on October 5.
DC Thanks Fans With NFTs
DC’s first foray into the world of blockchain technology is happening through its latest partnership with Palm NFT Studios. The collection, representing the company’s legendary history and diverse range of characters, world-building, and storytelling, will be hand-selected by DC’s Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee, who commented,
“We spent a lot of time on how to translate and adapt these classic covers into a 21st-century format such as NFTs. This drop pays homage to our 87-year history while visualizing a future in which NFTs play a foundational role in novel ways of interacting with DC content and unlocking new experiences.”
The collection is meant to serve as a note of gratitude to loyal DC fans as well as an invitation to attend the DC FanDome event on October 16. Those who wish to attend will be able to collect a free NFT by registering for the event and can unlock a second free NFT by spreading the word on social media.
Why Palm NFT Studio?
The company has been selected as the NFT partner for the event because of its environmentally conscious approach. Palm’s blockchain uses 99.99% less energy compared to Proof-of-Work systems. Additionally, the studio’s flexibility helps artists and provides the infrastructure necessary to support creative NFT development. Finally, the platform will enable the minting of millions of NFT for fans while keeping costs almost negligible.
Palm Studios Co-founder Dan Heyman spoke on the partnership,
“It’s immensely rewarding to work with a partner like DC who understands that blockchain is more than a technology, it’s a sustainable storytelling tool that can reshape the relationship between creators and fans.”
DC Superheroes Join MCU Characters In NFT Space
The collection will feature fan-favorite characters like Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and Harley Quinn, with the opportunity to collect three rare comic book covers per character.
For example, fans of t Wonder Woman can collect a ‘Common’ cover from 1987’s Wonder Woman #1 by George Peréz, a ‘Rare’ cover from 2021’s Nubia and the Amazons #1 by Alitha Martinez, or a ‘Legendary’ cover from Yara Flor on 2021’s Future State: Wonder Woman #1 by Jenny Frison.
DC’s digital collectibles launch follows a similar move from contending entertainment brand Marvel back in June when the latter partnered up with VeVe Digital Collectibles to offer popular MCU characters and comics as digitally collectible NFTs.
