Kobe Bryant’s legacy is all set to live on in a digital form, as the KB24 NFT project has revealed the official launch date for their NFT cart collection, which is inspired by the late NBA icon. The press release has stated that the launch date for the collection is 8th October.
The project has received considerable support from several NBA stars, including Nerlens Noel, Dwight Howard, Metta World Peace, and Kenny Smith. Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard, commenting on the developments, stated,
“I am amazed at how fast the KB24 community has grown in such a short amount of time. I’m excited to engage more in the NFT space, and this is a movement that carries great significance in the art world. It’s thrilling to be supporting the Mamba & Mambacita Foundation!”
Details Of The NFT Collection.
All proceeds from the NFT collection sale will go towards the Mamba and Mambacita Sports foundation, created in honor of Kobe Bryant and Gianna Bryant. The KB24 project is essentially a collection of 10,000 NFTs that have been algorithmically generated and that exist on the blockchain. Each NFT in the collection has its unique attributes, which are divided into eight different categories.
The initial value of each NFT would be 0.08 ETH, or around $250, while the newly minted NFTs will cost equivalent to their NFT rate. Mamba and Mambacita will receive money from the project through the initial sales of the NFT project. If all 10,000 NFTs are sold on the first day, the project would have generated $2.5 million.
Hoping To Change The NFT Space
One of the co-founders of the KB24 NFT project, Andy treys, commented about it while speaking to Forbes, stating that it hopes to change the NFT space.
“We want to change the NFT space. There’s so much room for the NFT community to give back to charities and make this world a better place. We’re not doing this for fame or fortune, and we’re doing this because we want to extend Kobe’s legacy to the digital realm forever.”
NFT creators will also earn royalties from each sale and subsequently each time the NFT is sold, with royalties also being paid for future resales. With each sale of a KB24 NFT, a 10% fee will be collected and donated towards the Mamba and Mambacita Foundation. The NFT project is expected to generate over $50 million in royalties which will be donated to the foundation.
