The person behind the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, the inventor of Bitcoin in 2008, has risen to 20th place after Bitcoin’s new surge, according to the Forbes list of the richest men on the planet.
Satoshi Nakamoto among the richest people thanks to Bitcoin value
This assessment is made on the basis of the Bitcoin he is expected to have in his wallet and in view of the fact that the price of the most popular digital currency has exceeded $62,000 in recent days.
According to what is believed to be a reliable figure, the mysterious inventor of Bitcoin has around 1 million pieces in his wallet.
This means that at current prices he would have an estimated wealth of $62 billion. The problem is that who is hiding behind this pseudonym is unlikely to sell the BTC in his/her/their possession, both to avoid disclosing his/her/their identity and probably to prevent the price from falling.
Some accounts also suggest that Satoshi Nakamoto may have died and that it is impossible to access the digital currency holdings. This is a pity, because according to some estimates, the Bitcoin price could soon exceed $100,000. This means that even the first position in the list of the richest men on earth, which belongs to Elon Musk with about 210 billion dollars in assets, could be within reach of the mysterious Satoshi.
Elon Musk himself has long been considered to be crypto-friendly and his tweets have often caused shocks on the cryptocurrency market in both positive and negative ways. For months, thanks to his endorsement of Dogecoin, the meme coin managed to make it into the top ten most capitalized cryptocurrencies.
Nakamoto’s mysterious identity
Ever since the famous whitepaper explaining the new Bitcoin digital currency appeared in 2008, there have been myriad assumptions and rumours about the real identity.
The inventor of the digital currency destined to revolutionize the world of traditional finance decided to use the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto in order to remain anonymous.
Despite some speculation about the real identity, which has always been denied, we still do not know who is behind the pseudonym.
Recently, a statue was dedicated to the mysterious Satoshi in Budapest, Hungary’s capital, with the Bitcoin symbol instead of a face.
Who knows whether the ranking of the world’s richest individuals might work wonders and manage to reveal the mysterious identity of the Bitcoin inventor, in the unlikely event that Satoshi reaches the top spot.
