The NFT collection, called McLaren Racing Collective, will be launched in collaboration with Tezos blockchain on the Sweet marketplace to engage with millions of Formula 1 fans worldwide.
NFTs For Formula 1 Fans
The news of the NFT collection was announced via a press release on the official McLaren website. The collection will provide fans and NFT enthusiasts the opportunity to own a piece of digital memorabilia from the McLaren Racing Collective. The collectible launch is a part of McLaren’s initiative to reach out to its massive global fanbase and community and engage with them through an innovative digital platform.
Director of Licensing, Ecommerce & esports, Lindsey Eckhouse, elaborated further on the upcoming launch,
“We are excited to launch the McLaren Racing Collective, which will help us engage our fans in an innovative new space. Collaborating with our partner Tezos, we are creating new ways to evolve our fan experience through a bespoke McLaren Racing digital collectible marketplace. The first NFT drop heroes our papaya-liveried MCL35M F1 car, and gives our fans a fantastic opportunity to own their own piece of McLaren Racing, seeing each component from all angles, while also allowing them to win incredible prizes.”
Plans For The Launch
The collectibles will be dropped in 5 stages. The first batch, which is dropping on October 24, will be featuring four different components of the MCL35M 2021 Formula 1 race car. The first 5,000 fans who join the platform will be gifted these components for free. There is even a competitive element involved as one lucky fan can win an all-expenses-paid, weekend, VIP trip to the 2022 Formula 1 Grand Prix. All they have to do is collect all 22 3D components and be the first one to assemble and unlock an exclusive 3D interactive version of the car. There will be a total of 35 complete NFT cars that collectors can assemble, with each digital component having a unique feature of its own.
Sweet Integrates Tezos Blockchain For NFT Launch
The collection will be developed by the energy-efficient blockchain Tezos, the official technical partner of this project. The NFT marketplace Sweet, which recently successfully integrated the Tezos blockchain, will unveil the launch as its “inaugural Tezos collection.” Sweet has previously worked with popular franchises like the National Basketball Association (NBA), Burger King, Lil Pump, Pentatonix, and more, to offer an NFT marketplace platform geared for fan engagement.
