The artist The Astronut is entering the NFT world with a very special collection.
The Astronut’s NFT collection
The Astronut is an artist who has several projects to his credit (“Image from Noise”, “Nothing Personal”, “Kimono Tales”) and who uses his works of figurative art to accompany and complete a very peculiar philosophical path.
Like many contemporary artists, he is fascinated by blockchain technology and has created a personal metaverse (“The Asomatic Square”) that will see the light of day in the first half of 2022.
In the immediate term, however, he approached the world of NFT by creating a collectible series of interactive digital objects called “52 Eyes”.
These are close-up photographs of as many eyes, selected to become part of this project, which he explains as follows:
“I am fascinated by serial generative art projects, but I wanted to come up with something that wasn’t created by software, so I collected images I had worked on in previous years extrapolating the detail of the eye as a synthesis of the photographed subject and took new ones, treating them all with the same methodology used for Image From Noise”.
How “52 Eyes” was made and what it contains
The “Image From Noise” technique with which the photographs are processed is explained by The Astronut himself in his personal blog. The 3D rendered photos are included in the NFTs, which will be published once a week.
But the real work of art is the interactive digital object, which contains not only the photos but also a series of interactions embedded in each NFT. Some functions are hidden, even by rarity, and can only be downloaded by the token holder. This object allows for a much more complete and immersive experience of the work, which at the moment can be used from a desktop browser (following the instructions on the official website). In the future, it will be extended to 3D viewers.
The Non Fungible Tokens of the “52 Eyes” series – all unique examples – are on sale on Mintable and OpenSea platforms, where it is possible to enjoy the complete and interactive version of each single work.
