Disney is collaborating with VeVe Marketplace to create the new NFT collection, dubbed the “Golden Moments” collectibles, in preparation for the first annual Disney+ Day on November 12.

Disney Announces NFT Collection

The Golden Moments digital collectibles will feature fan-favorite characters and stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and more, and will be available for purchase on the VeVe NFT marketplace, which is an app-based marketplace for premium licensed digital collectibles. Additionally, VeVe has collaborated with Disney-unit Marvel previously to launch an exclusive digital comics collection.

The Golden Moments NFTs will be launched in celebration of the first annual Disney+ Day. Fans and dedicated collectors will be able to buy and interact with these NFTs, which will take the form of golden statues inspired by iconic moments from the most popular franchises in the world of entertainment. The collection will be made available for purchase on the VeVe platform in the days following the Disney+ Day. On November 12, the collection will be joined by a unique Ultra Rare digital collectible, which is yet to be disclosed. Buyers of a Golden Moments NFT will also receive a free three months subscription to Disney+, while those who purchase the Ultra Rare collectible on Disney+ Day will receive a 12-month subscription.

Disney Follows Marvel And DC In NFT Race

With the announcement of the upcoming Golden Moments NFT collection, Disney is joining the ranks of Marvel and DC Comics in leveraging NFT technology to provide fans and members of their community with more opportunities to engage and interact with their favorite franchises.

Earlier this year in June, Marvel had entered the NFT space in collaboration with VeVe. The entertainment giant banked on the fanbase’s love for collectibles to release a collection of static and animated 3D digital statues and digital comics from the extensive Marvel Comics range.

Soon after DC Comics also followed suit by announcing the launch of their new line of digital collectibles dropping at the DC FanDome 2021 event on October 5. The collection, launched in partnership with Palm NFT Studios was in the form of digital covers of rare comic books featuring popular characters like Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and Harley Quinn.

After major toy and collectible companies like Hasbro, Mattel, and Funko joined the NFT brigade, Disney has been the latest entertainment conglomerate to license and monetize its intellectual property via NFTs.
