As public awareness of the metaverse reaches critical mass, top sportswear brand Adidas is seizing on the momentum to dive even deeper into crypto.
The Adidas Originals Twitter account announced to its four million followers that it was partnering with premier NFT (non-fungible token) brands and influencers to explore the metaverse.

Bored Ape Yacht Club’s NFTs are a collection of Ethereum-based digital collectibles. Bored Ape owners are granted online access to members-only benefits on the official website.
Bored Ape NFTs currently fetch a minimum of $200,000 on the auction site OpenSea.
GMoney is a well-known collector within the NFT community, while PUNKS Comic was created by Pixel Vault as part of its mission to utilize crypto-native assets through the creation of intellectual property.
Adidas’s foray into NFTs and the metaverse follows on the heels of an announcement last week that it was partnering with the US’s largest crypto exchange Coinbase.
That news came days after Adidas revealed that it had purchased virtual real estate in the metaverse world The Sandbox, whose native token SAND recently rallied to a new all-time high of $8.48.
Competing sportswear titan Nike also appears poised to take on the metaverse. The company filed a trademark application in October for products involving “downloadable virtual goods… for use online and in online virtual worlds.”
