Latest Floki Inu ambassador Tyson Fury is facing backlash on social media for posting a low-effort video promoting the coin.
Fury Fumbles Through Promo
The promotional video was posted on Fury’s personal Twitter handle and features the boxing champion stiffly reading through a script, peppered with moments of poorly feigned enthusiasm. However, the final nail on the coffin is when he fumbles on the pronunciation of Floki Inu. Fury signs off the video with an awkward shout of ‘Valhalla,’ which could refer to the crypto’s gaming metaverse, which is currently under development. The Floki Inu page retweeted the video, claiming that “Floki is the people’s cryptocurrency backed by the people’s champion.”
Twitterati Up In Arms
Naturally, there was a flurry of backlash on Twitter, with popular members from the community calling out Fury’s hammy acting and disingenuous promotion.
A crypto enthusiast who goes by the handle, Maarten_B was one of the verified Twitter accounts who called out the insincere promotion.
He tweeted at Fury,
“Realistically you have no clue what are you talking about and got paid for this advert…It’s another meme coin…here you misleading your followers and at the end, most of them will lose.”
He also pointed out that the coin is devoid of any use-cases and lacks value, calling it a ‘pump-and-dump.’ The Twitter user also spoke about the many people who would try to emulate the boxing champion, only to lose their money.
Even Floki Inu supporters have called out the low-effort video. Another Twitter user, who goes by the handle, Mom2TheO, tweeted,
“ok i love floki but this is so scripted it’s disingenuous and embarrassing.”
Floki Inu’s Esports Expansion
The Floki Inu crypto was inspired by Elon Musk’s pet Shiba dog, named Floki, and is one of the many ‘Doge meme coins’ that have been popping up over the crypto space. The cryptocurrency signed on Tyson Fury a month back as an ambassador. The team tweeted the announcement,
“In what is a landmark deal indicative of $FLOKI’s intent to corner every sphere of the world and be a dominant cryptocurrency, we’d like to announce a strategic partnership with the Gypsy King and Undefeated World Boxing Champion Tyson Fury!”
Most recently, the Floki team embarked on a sponsorship deal with Russian professional football club FC Spartak Moscow. The crypto is building a solid esports presence by partnering with multiple football clubs globally. Last month, Floki announced three major professional football sponsorship deals with the clubs Kerala Blasters FC (India), Cádiz CF (Spain), and S.S.C. Napoli (Italy).
