The Eatable token is the project’s name launched by the e-commerce of Made in Italy food products ItaliaRegina.it. The project was created in collaboration with the innovative company Smiling, which has created this solution that applies NFT technology to the online shop that sells the excellence of Italian food abroad.
Why the choice of NFT
The non-fungible tokens are, in this case, used to enhance the brand ItaliaRegina, considering that the NFT market in 2021 generated over 21 billion dollars.
The eatable tokens are NFTs dedicated to the most iconic typical Italian products, such as lasagna, carbonara, etc.
How ItaliaRegina’s NFTs work
Giorgio D’Amore, Administrator and founding partner of Smiling, explained:
“We are excited about this project because, in some ways, it is a circle that closes. A food product becomes an iconic, fun, and sometimes useful image, and then it turns back into a product that the customer can actually eat at home. All with just a few clicks. It is a concrete value both for those who will buy an EATABLE TOKEN the first time – the user will receive a unique voucher of the same amount – and for subsequent buyers who in turn will receive a discount to be used on ItaliaRegina.it”.
In fact, this NFT project translates into receiving a discount of 5 euros for purchases of products on ItaliaRegina.it. The discount is found as “unlockable content” that you can redeem after purchasing your non-fungible token on Opensea.
This way, in addition to the digital collectible item, the NFT offers a physical advantage, being able to get discounted products to receive at home and taste even abroad.
The test of the service
This is definitely a new way to see non-fungible tokens and use them to enhance a brand utilizing new technologies.
In fact, in this case, more than collecting tokens, we are talking about a new way of marketing and providing discounts and incentives to its users.
To test the product, with The Cryptonomist, we tested the service by receiving the NFT dedicated to the iconic Italian lasagna. Then, in the “Unlockable content” section, we found our discount code, and from there, going to the e-commerce site, we could order the products.
