Matches are made in heaven and the gateway for it could be through cryptocurrencies. A new study finds that having cryptocurrencies in one’s portfolio could help one get an edge in the dating scene.

Social investing platform eToro recently conducted a survey ahead of Valentine’s Day. It states that single men and women are setting their eyes on partners who are not just financially stable but also savvy when it comes to using digital currencies. A staggering 33 percent of Americans said that they would prefer a date with someone who mentions “crypto” on their online dating profile.

Furthermore, eToro also revealed that three in four would be interested in a second date with a person paying a bill in Bitcoin. The number of merchants accepting crypto payments has skyrocketed in recent times. Payments giant Visa, which offers crypto-linked cards says nearly 100 million merchants are accepting crypto payments.

As per eToro, other digital assets such as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are also desirable in the dating scene. Nearly 20 percent of singles believe that having an NFT as one’s profile picture on a social platform or a dating site makes them more romantic.

Well, it clearly shows that people prefer dating financially prudent people. The excitement surrounding crypto investing has been especially high over the last year. Massive gains from a variety of cryptocurrencies have also led to higher investor participation.

The growing number of crypto investors

As per the research conducted by Pew Research Center, 16 percent of Americans said that they have personally invested in, traded, or used digital assets. Besides, data also shows that more young crowd is delving into crypto. For adults in the age of 18-29, this number shoots to 31 percent.

Also, men as twice as likely as women to use crypto or trade them. The number is 22 percent men participation against 10 percent women participation. Although crypto is emerging to be the new favorite on the dating scene one must be careful before investing and doing their own research.

The cryptocurrency asset class comes with its own set of volatility. Over the last three months, we have seen Bitcoin and many other altcoins correcting by more than 50 percent. Thus, investing in crypto comes with its own set of risks.

However, many market analysts still believe that cryptocurrencies have a brighter future in the long term. If we look on a 4-year time span, Bitcoin has given anywhere between 50-200 percent returns. So has been the case with most of the altcoins.

Furthermore, with the growth of DeFi and NFTs, the crypto ecosystem has been expanding as a whole. We have also seen larger investors participation from institutional players.
