Adult content subscription platform Only Fans has announced they have donated almost one million dollars worth of ETH to support Ukraine.
The London-based adult video and image platform, which allows artists to monetize content from fans, saw an explosion in growth during the pandemic going from 7.5 million users in November 2019, to 170 million registered users in September 2021.
An only fans representative announced that the platform would be donating 500 ETH to UkraineDAO, a decentralised autonomous organisation, as part of the organisation’s larger charitable effort to support Ukraine in its challenging time.
The chief executive of OnlyFans Ami Gan, noted in a statement:
“These tragic events have had a terrible impact on individuals including members of our creator community. Given our strong personal ties to Ukraine, we wanted to support in a way which felt true to who we are at OnlyFans and which focused on getting aid and support to the Ukrainian people”
Ukraine has so far reached almost $100 million in crypto donations, according to Ukraine’s deputy minister at the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Alex Bornyakov. In a Bloomberg article, Bornyakov noted that most of the cryptocurrency donations received have been in either ether or bitcoin. He added that $15 million had been spent on military gear, and to provide high-speed internet across the country.
The figure believed to be behind the fundraising efforts is OnlyFans Ukranian-American owner Leonid Radvinsky, who bought a 75 per cent stake in Onlyfans’ parent company Fenix in 2018.
UkraineDAO, the charitable platform set up to help Ukrainian civilians was set up by P*ssy Riot, Trippy Labs, PleasrDAO, CXIP,and other civilians on the ground, and has received over $50 million since it began.
