This week’s guest on the Cardano SPO Column is a stake pool that is part of the Ardana ASPA and gives back to support humanitarian and environmental causes: ADABreathes [AIR].
Last week’s guest was a stake pool run by a veterinarian which donates to non-profit organizations for animals such as WWF.
This initiative is a point of reference for everything Cardano and every week or two we will invite a Stake Pool Operator (SPO) to answer some questions and give us an update directly from within the Cardano community.
Considering that many of our readers are new to the crypto space, we will have a mix of simple and technical questions.
Cardano SPO, interview with ADABreathes [AIR]
Hi, glad to have you here. Tell us something about yourself, where are you based and what is your background?
HI! Glad to be here. Thank you for the opportunity.
My name is Anselmo, I’m 32 years old and I’m Portuguese. I grew up on a small Island, Madeira, and soon, at 17 years old, I came to the mainland, Lisbon, to study electrical engineering.
When I was studying electrical engineering and getting to know myself a little bit better, I realised that I wasn’t really happy with my choice. I understood that I’m a seeker and my real passion was to understand the broader structure of reality. Philosophy, economics, politics, physics, psychology, language – understanding the human condition and how to improve it was my main driver and motivation.
I still decided to finish my degree – I was young and I did not want to disappoint my family – but since then I have been pursuing my dreams – To study philosophy, feel comfortable in my own skin, and improve people’s lives around me. And sometimes all I need to do is… Listen.
And all of this only makes sense if we care about our planet, our environment. Our home.
What’s the path that led you to Cardano and to become a Stake Pool Operator (SPO)?
In my quest to achieve my economic freedom so I could focus on improving my life and pursue my dreams and then, as a normal consequence, the life of people around me, I found cryptocurrency and the inevitability took me to Cardano. The best thing that could have happened to me. The community, the core values, the vision – I felt at home.
I found a community trying to improve the systems of the world – power to the edges – a rebellion against the legacy system that, from my point of view, is falling. We need Cardano. We need decentralisation. We need freedom of choice. We need inclusive accountability. A system where everyone has equal access.
Cardano made me dream.
From here, the creation of the stake pool AIR | ADABreathes made sense so I could contribute to the decentralisation of the protocol – helping to have a more resilient protocol- and ADABreathes could eventually become a non-profit organisation to directly help others. For now, we are supporting One Tree Plant with 10% of our rewards.
I believe we should take care of our home, our planet. We need to create the right environment so we can thrive and accomplish our dreams.
You are part of the ASPA. What is Ardana? What are they bringing to Cardano?
Ardana is a decentralised stablecoin hub which will bring the necessary DeFi primitives needed to bootstrap & maintain any economy to Cardano.
The Ardana and Cardano community and vision are certainly in alignment with AIR values. We seek to change the world and provide a positive and meaningful impact to others by giving digital and economic identity to the people lacking it. We are particularly interested in Ardana because they believe stablecoins and DeFi are the tools needed to give people an economic identity.
Where do you see Cardano in 10 years? What possibilities do you envision?
I see Cardano as the World Social Operating System.
Cardano has strong fundamentals, all the research and care that was put towards building a robust system aligned with a strong community that wants to cause a positive impact will make Cardano inevitable.
We need to stay open and welcome other projects because the future will be multichain and all together we can really build the future systems of the world.
We still have a lot to learn and improve but this will be our life mission and we are on the right track. I hope nations lacking banking infrastructure can use Cardano to improve people’s lives. They will have a real, robust and tangible option.
Great! Any final thoughts? Where can people connect with you?
I’m proud of being part of this beautiful community.
Don’t stop dreaming. We really have a real and tangible opportunity to cause a positive impact to humanity. Let’s do it!
People can connect with me through Twitter and Telegram. Thank you!
