Crypto-powered financial app Revolut has announced an educational program that will award participants in return for completing quizzes. The scheme is designed to raise awareness and knowledge of cryptocurrencies and is targeted at users of Revolut’s popular crypto-saving app.

The multi-part educational series begins with a primer on blockchains and the differences between fiat and crypto. It details what makes crypto tick and why it might be desirable to dabble in it. From there, it’s straight into a section on Polkadot, with a shallow dive into how its network of parachains works and the role the DOT token plays in this process.

Polkadot and Web3 Foundation Support DOT Giveaway

Revolut has gotten Polkadot and Web3 Foundation onboard with its Learn & Earn course, resulting in $15 of DOT being given away to participants who successfully complete the corresponding quiz. Interactive cards and videos will teach Revolut users about the workings of Polkadot prior to the quiz, so there should be no need to gen up in advance.

Rather than getting into arcane details about the workings of consensus mechanisms and smart contract logic, Learn & Earn is meant to provide a basic overview of what makes different ecosystems tick. It will whet appetites rather than sate them entirely, in other words.

As Emil Urmashin, Revolut’s Crypto General Manager, explains: “There’s a huge appetite from our customers to learn more about cryptocurrencies. ‘Learn & Earn‘ will help them better understand the trends, risks and potential opportunities associated with crypto. Our collaboration with Web3 Foundation on Polkadot, one of the most popular blockchain networks, will help customers become more familiar with crypto concepts.”

There’s More Where That Came From

Revolut’s Polkadot-themed crypto course is only the beginning; over the course of the year, the financial giant intends to add further modules which will also likely be incentivized with crypto rewards. Crypto educational courses have become extremely popular in recent years, with many exchanges and applications rolling out their own iterations. These are designed to increase crypto literacy and to demonstrate corporate responsibility.

Demystifying the way in which cryptocurrencies work – and what makes them different from one another – is sure to be of value to industry newcomers. The range of crypto assets available on the market now runs into the tens of thousands, and while less than 100 are supported by Revolut, the average customer can’t be expected to have mastered them all.

Polkadot is an apposite choice for kicking off Revolut’s Learn & Earn series. Designed by former Ethereum co-founder Dr Gavin Wood, Polkadot operates quite differently to smart contract blockchains that have gone before it. With the project still under intensive development, few cryptocurrency holders have used the network for themselves. Completing the Revolut Polkadot quiz won’t turn armchair crypto savers into parachain experts, but it will be a step in the right direction. In the process, it will see thousands of new wallets receive their first deposits of DOT.
