truth social google play

Google Play Store will not make available for download the app of Truth Social, the social network of Donald Trump, former US President. The main reason is that the app violates the store’s content moderation standards.

Google Play Store withholds availability of Truth Social, Donald Trump’s app

Google has not yet approved and made available the Android version of Donald Trump’s social network app, Truth Social

The problem is that the app would violate the Play Store’s content moderation standards.

Google reportedly stated the following:

“On Aug. 19, we notified Truth Social of several violations of standard policies in their current app submission and reiterated that having effective systems for moderating user-generated content is a condition of our terms of service for any app to go live on Google Play. Last week Truth Social wrote back acknowledging our feedback and saying that they are working on addressing these issues.”

This restriction by the Google Play Store means that, at present, 44% of smartphone users in the United States cannot download the app.

Google Play Store decides to not approve Truth Social

Google Play Store slows down expansion of Truth Social usage

Truth Social was created by Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG) as Twitter‘s main competitor after the social network of crypto-lovers itself banned it from the platform for its tweets related to the Capitol Hill uprising on 6 January.

Available now for iPhone, the Truth Social app was launched on the Apple Store

Google Play Store’s decision to hinder the expansion of use of the social network is due precisely to its terms and conditions regarding the content that can be shared.

Not only that, Google’s YouTube has also suspended Trump’s channel

Elon Musk and his willingness to unblock Trump on Twitter

In early May, when Elon Musk was the one who would buy Twitter, he had said he would like to unblock Donald Trump’s account, as the choice had been “morally wrong.”

Musk has been promoting “freedom of thought” all along, and for that very reason, he later confirmed that he was in favor of ending the permanent ban on the former US president’s Twitter account.

At the time of writing, the battle between Twitter and Musk has only escalated more, with the social network also suing Binance this month. Musk appears to be changing his mind on the social media acquisition deal
