The web3 music company TokenTraxx has appointed the former Global Revenue Director of The Guardian, Tim Gentry, as Chief Executive Officer at their headquarters in London, England.
Gentry co-founded TokenTraxx in 2021 and joined as Chief Operating Officer. He takes over from Paul Taylor, who played an instrumental role in positioning the company as one of the most promising music businesses in the web3 space by launching the TRAXX token on BitMart and AscendEX. Taylor takes up his new position as Chief Commercial Officer with immediate effect.
“I would like to thank Paul for the conception of TokenTraxx, the bringing together of the team and his leadership which include many significant achievements – not least of all being the successful launch of the TRAXX token in March this year and for putting the company on a sound financial footing for the future,” said Gentry.
“As we enter the next phase of TokenTraxx’s growth, we are excited to massively ramp up adoption of our technology as we play our part in bridging the music industry from web2 to web3. The aim of TokenTraxx is to provide web3 products and services that create closer connections between creators, curators and collectors of music and to redefine the value of music to support and financially benefit the entire community.
“TokenTraxx has two, complimentary, business models that bring the best from web2 to web3. The first is the marketplace and web3 advisory which derives commissions, advisory and recoupable fees from bringing creators, curators and collectors of music together on TokenTraxx.
“The second, which I am very excited about, is the TRAXX Protocol – web3 technology intentionally built for the music industry. To be deployed off TokenTraxx, the protocol will create a demand and supply asymmetry – on creator and curator owned and operated and third-party web2 and web3 properties,” added Gentry.
TRAXX tokens are required for every transaction on the TRAXX protocol, which is designed to facilitate a simple user experience for those unfamiliar with crypto..
Gentry’s promotion to CEO has been complemented by additional appointments.
Chris Ware has been appointed as the Chief Marketing Officer. It is Ware’s first foray in to web3, yet he brings a wealth of creative talent and branding experience, having led the UK media account for Apple over a number of years in the UK as well as holding the same position for consumer brand giant Unilever across Europe and most recently as Global lead for car manufacturer Audi.
“I’ve been fortunate to work in an industry that has seen great technological change in a short space of time,” said Ware. “For me, helping Apple launch the iPhone in 2007 demonstrated how incredibly smart yet beautifully intuitive tech can make people’s lives better. I see the emergence of web3 in the music industry as a similar inflection point and that is why I am so excited to be part of this journey with TokenTraxx.”
Jason Lamont, a music industry expert who held the position of Vice President Marketing & Creative at Warner Music’s Parlophone Records, becomes Chief Strategy Officer.
Lamont has also previously led content and marketing teams at streaming video start-up Babelgum as well as EMI records in Australia. He brings a wealth of music campaign experience, having worked with global superstars including Coldplay, Kylie, David Guetta and Gorillaz.
“I look forward to working with the leadership team on engaging our partners and getting them excited about the possibilities of Web3 as they enter this new era with us. TokenTraxx has so much potential, not only as the home of digital collectibles, but also as a gateway to an infinite array of experiences for music consumers,” said Lamont.
Chief Technology Officer Jitin Jain, whose work has been integral to the UX improvements including the onboarding of Circle credit card and the Venly wallet integration, has been promoted to the company board of directors.
Another board member, co-founder Miles Leonard, the renowned ex-Chairman of Parlophone Records and Warner Music is in advanced talks for TokenTraxx to partner with some of the UK’s biggest music labels.
Chief Creative Officer and brand originator, TommyD concludes:
“Within just one year of starting the development, TokenTraxx has become one of the most comprehensive platforms in the music NFT industry with successful NFT drops of TraxxStemz Generative NFTs with band Graffiti6, which is close to my heart, and membership and FuturePass NFTs with Ibiza’s OpenLab.
“With future high profile NFT drops set for Q4 2022 and the launch of TRAXX Protocol and TRAXX Rewards for the TRAXX holder community, our restructured leadership team are set to scale new heights and I am simply in awe of the team that we are moving at such pace.”
