The Cryptonomist interviewed Luca Clementi, one of the members of the Italian team of the company The Sandbox that runs one of the most famous metaverse. His specific role is that of community manager of the Italian groups, and we discussed with Clementi the future of the project, NFTs and much more.
Here is the full interview.
Can you give us some details about The Sandbox’s numbers?
We recently surpassed the 4 million accounts created on the site and average hundreds of thousands of active users every day on the site.
How is Alpha Season 3 going?
Alpha Season 3 is going well, there have been problems arising from both the game client and the level design of some experiences, but they are being promptly fixed by the team as soon as they arise. It is also quite normal as a thing since the game client is still in Alpha version and there have been several new features in this Season. First among them is the number of playable experiences: more than 90, which is three times more than before. In addition, rewards have been added at the end of the season for the most active players. The feedback at the player level is also positive, in Alpha Season 2 there were more than 300,000 active users and we will certainly do better in this season, despite the bear market that is known to drive people away from the crypto and investment world.
What is your role in The Sandbox and how did you start working for them?
My role is Italian Community Manager, I am in charge of managing the Italian community on Telegram and Discord. I am also in charge of managing our social accounts and the live broadcasts that we do weekly.
I started as an ambassador in the Ambassador Program in May 2021, in August of the same year I got to know Serena Tabacchi who had recently been put in charge of managing the international and Italian marketing side, and it is thanks to her that I was then hired by The Sandbox itself because there was a lack of a figure to manage the Italian community.
What advice would you give to people who want to work in the crypto world?
The advice I would give to anyone who wants to start working in the crypto world is to actively attend the environment, understand the mechanisms and what the most in-demand roles can be. Choosing the company to work for is also crucial, having it written on your resume that you worked for a company that then scammed definitely does not make a good impression.
The best thing, which has been important for me as well, is to believe in the project that the company you would like to work for is pursuing, if you already follow the developments and like the idea you will definitely work with more passion and be able to contribute more actively to the growth of the company.
What is your favorite project in the metaverse?
There are many favorite projects within The Sandbox, first of all that of Snoop Dogg, with the avatar collection he launched, the dedicated experience within the Alpha Season and all the exclusive events inside and outside the metaverse reserved for those who have his pass.
Also Warner Music is shaping up to be something interesting with its pass.
What are the future applications of the metaverse that you think are currently still unexplored too much?
One of the future applications that are not much considered today in my opinion are thematic metaverses, metaverses where all the people who are passionate about a particular topic can find each other and interact together. Another thing that companies are working a lot on but that hasn’t caught on yet is augmented reality, we’ve all played Pokemon Go, but other than that very few people use augmented reality every day (except in the work environment), maybe the visors that will be released in the future will be able to bring different people closer to this world.
