We have reached a critical moment for the crypto industry in Washington.

There are real opportunities to pass comprehensive, permanent laws that affect major crypto exchanges, stablecoin issuers, and application developers, and provide much-needed clarity for Web3 innovators and consumers alike. The gears of government move slowly by design, but there is now a 51%+ chance crypto legislation gets passed within a year. And these laws could lay the foundation for the American Web3 economy for a decade.

Not everyone will agree on every provision of every proposed bill. Still, we *must* pass legislation that keeps the United States competitive, nurtures innovation, creates jobs, and protects consumers from fraud and abuse. And we will only get sensible crypto laws if there is a sufficient understanding among members of Congress — and their staffs — on how this stuff actually works.

It isn’t easy to come up the crypto learning curve, which is why I’m committing to helping re-elect members from both parties who have rolled up their sleeves and taken the time to learn about these technologies and why they are important. Electing legislators with institutional knowledge — not only of crypto but who serve thoughtfully on the Agriculture, Banking, and Financial Services committees and have shown leadership on technology issues in general — is crucial to getting this right. And thoughtful policy is vital to the success of Messari, our customers, the crypto industry, and the U.S. economy.

Today, I’m sharing the 28 members of Congress for whom I have “maxed out” personal campaign contributions. I believe in transparency, so I have decided to focus on hard money contributions that are a matter of public record (FEC filings) rather than giving to super PACs.

I believe this is an important enough cause to contribute significant time and financial resources. If you agree, I hope this list can serve as a starting point for determining your own contributions. Crypto is a grassroots movement with widespread voter support, but we can’t just talk (and tweet). We have to show up and engage in the arena.

Election Day is four weeks from today.
