Revolut, the global financial super app with over 20 million customers worldwide, has launched Revolut Chat, an instant messaging feature where Revolut customers in the UK and EEA can chat and share fun gifs and stickers while sending and requesting money from and to other customers.
A recent study conducted by Revolut and Dynata in Italy on a sample of more than 1,000 people shows that nearly 60% of Italians have difficulty talking about money. The new chat feature in the Revolut app aims to make it less awkward by keeping the discussion in one dedicated place.
The new Revolut Chat feature
To use this feature, customers simply need to access the “Payments” section in the Revolut app. The chat window will open immediately after tapping on one of the contacts. The chat will be incorporated into the “Send” function, so there will be no need to open multiple windows.
Sending a message is easy: all a client has to do is start typing and tap the blue arrow icon. Once a chat message is sent, a notification will be displayed on one of the contacts.
Designed with security in mind, all chat messages have end-to-end encryption. Customers can disable the chat function if they do not wish to use it and can enable or disable it completely in the “Security and Privacy” section.
In addition, users can block other users. The chat function is not available for Revolut <18 users. The chat feature can only be used between users who both have accounts in the UK or European Economic Area and have each other’s phone number or have a payment history.

To use the chat, customers will need to have the 8.72 or later update on their Revolut iOS or Android app.
