Incentives are a common strategy to encourage new activity among users. Optimism’s own incentive program, called Quests, ended on January 17. Unsurprisingly, results resurface the mercenary nature of capital in crypto: when the incentive program was ongoing, transaction counts across the network jumped 426%. All participating protocols also saw significant increases in engagement. But now that Quests has ended, Optimism’s daily transaction average has plummeted nearly back to pre-Quests levels.
