Fantom: Is this breakout legitimate or an apparition?

Fantom is one of the best-performing major crypto assets of 2023, up over 180%, but the underlying fundamentals continue to point toward a stagnant to declining ecosystem. Some planned upgrades look extremely promising for future ecosystem growth (for example a new, high performant virtual machine) while others look less interesting as other L1s have similar upgrades in flight. Across the rest of the L1 landscape we see continued progress along the Ethereum roadmap, with withdrawals still on track for March, a surge in Bitcoin transaction fees due to a newly launched NFT, and Canto emerging on Cosmos as a new L1 to monitor.
