Latest news about famous actor from The Matrix, Keanu Reeves, who talked about crypto in an interview and praised them, adding that their underlying principles and ideas are “incredible.”

Crypto News: The Matrix star Keanu Reeves says cryptocurrencies and NFT are incredible

While promoting his new film “John Wick 4,” The Matrix star Keanu Reeves praised cryptocurrencies and NFTs during an interview with Wired.

Specifically, Reeves said as follows:

“I think the principle, the ideas behind an independent currency, are amazing. These are amazing tools for exchanges and distribution of resources.

So to pooh-pooh crypto, or the volatility of cryptocurrency, it’s only going to make it better in terms of how it’s safeguarded.”

Previously, the Hollywood star had revealed that he owned cryptocurrencies. In fact, he had said in December 2021 that it would be a friend of his who would buy them for him, while the actor would do nothing with them.

Keanu Reeves as advisor for NFTs and Metaverse

Reeves has become an advisor to the Futureverse Foundation, a charity launched in June last year by Non-Fungible Labs, a New Zealand-based blockchain tech and NFT company.

The organization supports both underrepresented artists but also advocates for keeping the metaverse widely accessible, healthy and evolving.

In this regard, Reeves reportedly stated:

“It’s something my partner, Alexandra Grant, is really interested in, so I’m kind of riding her coattails. I helped set up the launch. We’re trying to take this technology that people are interested in and give opportunities to artists with different viewpoints.”

The celebrated actor had played the hero Neo in 1999’s The Matrix, a film that had in some ways already predicted many of today’s emerging technology trends, such as Artificial Intelligence and the metaverse. This is why Web3 fans are intrigued by Reeves’ claims about the crypto sector.

The Matrix project with 100,000 NFTs from Warner Bros

Back in November 2021, American multinational media and entertainment company Warner Bros launched its The Matrix project with 100,000 NFT avatars, which were inspired by the movie “The Matrix: Resurrections,” released the following month.

In essence, The Matrix NFTs were designed as artistic avatars. Kind of like what happens with the CryptoPunks and Bored Ape Yacht Club collections.

Moreover, buyers could transform The Matrix NFT avatars by taking a “red pill” or a “blue pill.”

The project at the time did not involve the actor in any way, who in fact was skeptical about the industry at the time.
