• CosmosAVAX is building an IBC-enabled chain on Avalanche.
  • The Avalanche network will also be joining CosmosAVAX (Landslide).

The Avalanche network, a decentralized, open-source proof-of-stake blockchain with smart contract functionality
is gearing up to pair with Cosmos. The announcement was shared by the Interchain Foundation, an organization created to support and promote free, decentralized, and open-source software.

According to the announcement, shared with the X platform, Landslide (CosmosAVAX), a platform bridging IBC-enabled chains to Avalanche, is developing the IBC light client on Avalanche. At its core, the move is aimed at paving the pathway for seamless interoperability between Avalanche, the Cosmos Hub, and more than one hundred other IBC-enabled chains.

Laying down the details of the project in an official Blogpost, Interchain is quoted saying;

The Interchain Foundation (ICF) is delighted to introduce Landslide — the team developing the IBC light client on Avalanche. Their effort signifies a monumental step toward expanding and fortifying the interchain, enabling enhanced connectivity and interoperability among various blockchain networks.

Notably, Landslide will be launching its incentivized testnet on the blockchain 1st of November, and users can sign up to participate on their official website. This marks a concrete step for IBC to land on Avalanche.
Landslide’s efforts also signify a monumental step toward expanding and fortifying the interchain ecosystem.

Landslide, is also a member of the Interchain Builders Program and a significant subnet on Avalanche. The platform reveals its excitement after announcing its IBC connection to Avalanche. The initiative is gearing up to revolutionize the DeFi ecosystem as it seeks to enable IBC-compliant dApps to run seamlessly on the Avalanche network.

IBC Light Client to change the scope of interoperability within the blockchain ecosystem

Not only does the new development promise to offer interoperability, it will also be leveraging the unparalleled security features unique to IBC, and bring about a level of trust and security that seeks to set a new standard for cross-chain interactions.

Highlighting the structure of the IBC light client, the blog post revealed that it is a result of a unique collaboration between (Cosmos) Landslide and StrangeLove. Strangelove is a Distributed Development Teams of the ICF. It specializes in IBC-centric initiatives, including the development of the IBC Go relayer and interchain tests.

On the other hand, Landslide taps into its years of innovation and technological mastery to elevate the projects to unprecedented levels. Both networks have formed a powerhouse alliance with skills and visions poised to reframe and revolutionize the blockchain ecosystem. Both their collective effects highlight the advancements constantly being recorded in the decentralized web, reflecting a future where collaboration fuels progress and transformation.

Speaking on the collaboration, Nathan Windsor, the co-founder and CEO of Landslide is quoted saying;

It is an honor to be working with the Interchain community and the ICF has been enormously helpful to us. Our team has had a long history of working on Cosmos infrastructure since back in the Ethermint days in 2018, and we are excited to bring IBC to Avalanche.
