The Hedera Council has announced the addition of a prominent new member, Hitachi America, Ltd. (Hitachi), consolidating its position in the field of industrial solutions based on Distributed Logging Technology (DLT).

Operating across the Americas, Hitachi, recognized for its leadership in electronics, industrial services, energy, healthcare, information technology (IT), operational technologies (OT), mobility and Internet of Things (IoT), aims to develop practical concepts for end-to-end supply chain and sustainability solutions in the Hedera network over the next twelve months.

The Hedera Council, comprised of a diverse coalition of global organizations and companies, is committed to driving network innovation and the continued decentralization of Hedera. Each board member has an equal vote in the direction of Hedera’s software and services, in addition to operating the initial nodes of the network.

Ravigopal Vennelakanti, vice president of Hitachi’s Big Data Analytics Solutions Lab, expressed Hitachi’s confidence in the real potential of distributed logging technology (DLT) solutions built on Hedera.

He highlighted the network’s highly scalable and secure technology , along with its strong commitment to sustainability. Vennelakanti underscored Hedera’s ability to address emerging needs in supply chain resilience, clean energy, IT/TO and semiconductor industries.

Hitachi’s inclusion on the Board not only strengthens the network with its technical and research capabilities, but also brings leadership in innovation-driven industrial use cases.

Hitachi, together with its affiliates, has successfully applied its technological expertise to develop valuable blockchain technology solutions in payment systems, supply chains, predictive maintenance and mining.

The company will also contribute expertise in machine learning and artificial intelligence generation technologies to the Council, enriching the diversity of expertise within this body.

Bill Miller, co-chair of Hedera’s Council membership committee, commented on the flourishing of distributed logging technology in large-scale real-world applications. He emphasized the significance of having the backing of recognized names in the industry, such as Hitachi.

Miller highlighted the growing attraction of Web3 infrastructure for large enterprises, enabling them to demonstrate transparency and accountability in supply chain and other systems.
