  • VeChain ecosystem just celebrated Meatless and EcoNex, the VeBetterDAO hackathon winners.
  • VeChain keeps building as a protocol for innovative enterprise solutions.

Meatless and EcoNex have emerged winners at the recently concluded VeChain’s VeBetterDAO hackathon hosted at the University of Cambridge, according to reports.

The VeBetterDAO Hackathon

The VeChain hackathon featured a varied range of projects, each tackling different aspects of sustainability. Among the winners were notable projects like Meatless and EcoNex. Meatless bagged the VeChain track winner as an application incentivizing consumers to embrace sustainable food choices.

Created by an ex-Amazon engineer and computer scientist from the University of Cambridge, Meatless incentivizes consumers by offering them B3TR tokens. This method not only promotes sustainability but also indirectly subsidizes sustainable food production without placing additional expenses on manufacturers. Notably, the Meatless initiative is a positive step toward tackling unsustainable food practices while increasing transparency and trust in the supply chain.

On the other hand, EcoNex won the BCG award for its creative approach to promoting eco-friendly commuting options. Through EcoNex, commuters are encouraged to choose environmentally friendly modes of transportation with the B3TR token serving as rewards.

Powered by the VeChainThor blockchain, EcoNex ensures openness and confidence in its reward system by guaranteeing real-time tracking and validation of eco-friendly travel activities.

The hackathon featured more than 50 X-2-Earn concepts, demonstrating the growing interest in using blockchain technology to support sustainability activities. Both Meatless and EcoNex received a portion of $30,000 in prize money, and the chance to access extra financing was announced at the event.

A team of industry experts, including Dr. Bernhard Kronfellner from BCG and Mark Miller from Manta Ray EV, judged the winning projects on their ability to meet the hackathon’s developer tracks efficiently.

VeChain’s Impact on Food and Transportation Sustainability

The hackathon served as the kickoff for a run of activities meant to advance the VeBetterDAO ecosystem’s development. VeChain restates its goal of enabling developers to create the next wave of sustainable corporate applications by centering each hackathon around a particular industry and the sustainability challenges that face that industry.

However, VeChain’s role in promoting sustainability extends beyond hackathons. The platform has used blockchain technology to transform food safety and sustainability, allowing for unprecedented trust and transparency in supply networks.

As formerly reported by Crypto News Flash, VeChain has partnerships with industry giants such as Walmart China. This collaboration catapulted VeChain to the forefront of sustainable innovation, with traceable products projected to account for a sizable share of sales.

Furthermore, VeChain’s global logistics projects offer disruptive solutions for streamlining supply chains and increasing efficiency across industries. Per Crypto News Flash’s earlier announcement, the VeChain team has established a sophisticated network and cooperated with numerous organizations to allow smooth global logistics solutions.

On the top of the list, the VeChain team has created a set of APIs and SDK toolkits known as VeChain ToolChain, which can connect various organizations to allow for seamless supply chain management.

These developments have caused the price of VET, VeChain’s native cryptocurrency to increase. As of the latest data, VET is trading at $0.04171, representing an increase of 6.3% in the past day, with its market capitalization pegged at $3 billion.
