Visa and Coinbase’s new partnership enables Visa users with eligible debit cards to instantly deposit and withdraw funds from their Coinbase accounts and instantly buy cryptocurrencies.

Coinbase Integration with Visa Direct Offers Real-Time Crypto Purchases Via Debit Cards

Crypto exchange Coinbase and digital payments giant Visa announced a partnership that will soon enable Visa users with eligible debit cards to deposit and withdraw funds from their accounts with Coinbase instantly. In a statement, Visa said:

“Coinbase already has millions of users with a debit card connected to their account, and this new feature will help unlock real-time delivery of account funds for those using an eligible Visa debit card. This will allow customers to quickly add funds offering them more flexibility to take advantage of trading opportunities, which can be critical in a dynamic crypto environment.”

With the heightened demand for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, the statement added that US and EU customers will get “real-time delivery of account funds for those using an eligible Visa debit card.”

In its statement, Visa explained that Coinbase customers with an eligible card could also purchase crypto on the platform and cash out funds from the exchange to a bank account in real-time. However, the privileges depend on the bank and region where customers operate.

The service is enabled by Visa Direct, which, according to the company’s statement, “delivers quick and secure money movement and further helps to bridge the gap between traditional finance and blockchain technologies, helping to minimize waiting periods for fund availability.”

Vital Partnership as Bitcoin (BTC) Soars Past $73K

The news comes after Bitcoin, the world’s leading cryptocurrency by market cap, surged past $73,000 to reach $73,512, levels not seen when BTC set its ATH in March 2024.

Yanilsa Gonzalez Ore, Head of Visa Direct, North America for Visa, commented on the partnership. In Visa’s statement, Gonzalez Ore said,

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Coinbase to help service their customers’ money movement needs.”

Gonzalez Ore also highlighted the benefits of the partnership for the user.

“Providing real-time account funding using Visa Direct and an eligible Visa debit card means that those Coinbase users with an eligible Visa debit card know that they can take advantage of trading opportunities day and night.”
