  • Drift Zone secures $190,000 grant, boosting its Web3 gaming platform with Sei network to innovate mainstream gaming adoption.
  • Enhancement of Gacha games with blockchain rewards aims to convert $4.4 billion Asian market spend into player profits.

Drift Zone, a Web3 gaming studio located in Hong Kong, has received a $190,000 grant to further its integration with the Sei network. This initiative is designed to enhance its gaming ecosystem by incorporating blockchain technology to provide real rewards, aiming for broader adoption of Web3 among mainstream users.

The grant facilitates Drift Zone’s utilization of the Sei network, which is recognized for its capability to execute up to 12,500 transactions per second and achieve block finality in 380 milliseconds. This technology is expected to deliver seamless, efficient gameplay that mirrors traditional web2 experiences while incorporating the benefits of web3, such as transparency and security.

Drift Zone seeks to evolve the Gacha gaming model, which generated over $4.4 billion in revenue in Asia last year, by using blockchain technology to provide actual rewards. This shift aims to transform how players interact with games by offering tangible value for their engagement and achievements within the game.

Comments from Industry Leaders

Jason Lim, Global Gaming Lead at the Sei Foundation, commented on the integration, noting Drift Zone’s approach to enhancing well-known games with blockchain capabilities to maintain user focus on gameplay rather than the technological backend. Vedran Sisak, CEO of Drift Zone, pointed out the vast expenditure by Asian players on Gacha games, emphasizing that the traditional gaming model offers no real return. Drift Zone’s innovation is to integrate real rewards into these popular mechanics, thereby adding value for players.

“Look at the numbers – players in Asia spend $4.4B annually on Gacha games,” said Vedran Sisak, Founder and CEO of Drift Zone.

Currently, players of Drift Zone: Arena can directly claim rewards through Sei wallets and validate achievements on-chain. A demo version of Drift Zone: Origins is also live on the Sei network, demonstrating the studio’s commitment to tapping into lucrative gaming markets by marrying traditional game formats with blockchain-driven incentives.

“These games are already incredibly sticky, but players never see any real value from their participation. We’re changing that equation. We’re evolving the entire format by adding real rewards to mechanics players already love. With Sei’s technology, we can deliver this experience at the massive scale these markets demand.”
